A 31-year-old Ghanaian woman who ran a charity organization helping sickle cell patients in Ghana and Togo was fatally stabbed in the UK. Johanita Kossiwa Dogbey was stabbed by Mohamed Nur while walking home from purchasing a birthday gift for her mother in Brixton’s Stockwell Park Walk area of south London on May 1.
She was speaking with her grandmother on the phone at the time of her stabbing. Paramedics were called to the scene but could not save her life. The Metropolitan Police have verified that the founder of the Odette Foundation was killed. Nur, accused of causing grievous bodily harm to three people the previous Saturday and possessing an offensive weapon, was detained and taken to court.
The suspect, a resident of Bond Way in Vauxhall, was charged with murder and other alleged stabbing-related offenses. Nur was remanded in custody by the Croydon Magistrates’ Court on Friday, and will appear in the Old Bailey next week.
