At present, there are twenty-two (22) individuals fighting for their lives at Mampong’s Tetteh Quarshie Memorial Hospital. The reason for their critical condition is an accident that occurred while they were descending the Mamfe Hill in the vehicle they were traveling in.

The driver of the Benz Sprinter Bus, registered as GX 6215-13, explained the accident happened due to brake failure after he swerved to avoid a vehicle ahead of him. The vehicle veered off the road at a sharp curve and somersaulted multiple times, causing injuries to all passengers aboard.

Promptly responding to the situation, personnel from the Ghana National Ambulance Service, aided by a police service vehicle from Mamfe Akropong, swiftly arrived at the scene and transported all the victims to the Tetteh Quarshie Memorial Hospital.

The incident resulted in a significant traffic jam that lasted for several hours as arrangements were made to remove the vehicle from the location.

Road users of the Mamfe-Koforidua street are placing blame on insufficient road signs at crucial points, poor visibility during nighttime, and hazardous potholes as the primary factors contributing to weekly accidents along that stretch. As a result, they are calling for immediate government intervention to mitigate the high number of casualties on that particular road.
