Four additional suspects, namely Nicholas Nii Sai, Nana Kwesi Gyimah, Joseph Anim, and Othniel Amankwah Darkwah, who was implicated in an alleged conspiracy with a bank employee to steal GH¢1.2 million from customers’ accounts, appeared before the Accra Circuit Court today. At the previous hearing, these four individuals had been mentioned as suspects, and the police were actively seeking them. Although they appeared in court today, their pleas were not taken.

They have been granted bail and must return to court on June 29, 2023. The case investigators continue to examine the details, bringing the number of accomplices who have come forward to the police to twelve.

Four additional suspects remain at large. Kwame Owusu Boadu, Daniel Osei, Boadu Nana Yaw Adjei, and Clinton Asamoah are alleged to have conspired with Emmanuel Sakyi Afriyie, the primary accused and a former bank employee, in the theft of over GH¢1.2 million from customers’ accounts without their consent.

The previous suspects who appeared in court were Cecil Nyamesem Agyarkwa, Richard Aikins, Michael Tweneboah Oppong, Fouad Mohammed, Caleb Bandoh, Benjamin Adoari, Ernest Aryee, and Isaac de-Heer. Emmanuel Sakyi Afriyie, aged 25, is accused of withdrawing money from customers’ accounts using their user identities and passwords without permission. Notably, he targeted the accounts of a deceased former Inspector General of Police and a judge.

During today’s court session, the four newly appeared suspects did not enter pleas because of the prosecution’s request for additional time to modify the charge sheet. Their next court appearance is scheduled for Thursday, June 29, 2023.
