Mohammed Kudus, the talented Ghanaian midfielder who currently plays for Ajax Amsterdam, will not be able to represent the Black Meteors at the 2023 U-23 Africa Cup of Nations because of eligibility constraints.
Kudus, who was born on August 2, 2000, falls just outside the Confederation of African Football’s (CAF) eligibility criteria for the tournament, which requires players to have been born on January 1, 2001, or later.
The news comes as a blow to Ghana’s U-23 team, which was hoping to include Kudus in its squad for the tournament, which will take place in Egypt in November 2023.
Kudus has already made a name for himself at the senior level, having earned several caps for the Black Stars since making his debut in 2019.
