Agenda 111 projects; Governments top priority

The Ministry of Works and Housing has affirmed that the construction of new housing units in all areas designated for Agenda 111 projects remains a top priority for the new Minister, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah. The ministry emphasizes that these constructions will be part of the rural housing projects endorsed by President Akufo-Addo, following clear guidelines.

 

During a media interaction on the sidelines of a ministry retreat in Koforidua, where the new sector minister familiarized himself with ongoing projects, spokesperson Mannaseh Atta Boahen stated that the ministry has the financial capacity to complete the projects within 10 months.

 

Boahen mentioned that various Agenda 111 project sites are at different stages of completion, expressing confidence that with sufficient financial resources, the ministry can successfully build new housing units at these locations. He assured that the Ministry of Finance has the required financial backing, and there are no constraints with resources.

 

The spokesperson also highlighted the continued priority of the sea defense project and the abandoned Saglemi housing project. The ministry is set to address these issues, with the minister planning to visit and meet contractors for the Saglemi housing project in the coming days. Additionally, efforts will be directed towards desilting major drains in preparation for the upcoming rainy season. Boahen assured that the ministry is well-prepared and will take action in the coming weeks.
