Alan John Kwadwo Kyerematen, the convener of the Movement for Change, has vehemently denounced the intrusion of United Television (UTV) by a group of individuals affiliated with the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
Mr. Kyerematen characterized this assault as disregard for the fundamental principles enshrined in the constitution, namely freedom of the media and freedom of speech.

The prospective 2024 presidential candidate expressed his view that the incident epitomized a reckless display of “power arrogance and indiscipline,” issues that have impeded our national progress for far too long.

In a Facebook statement, he underscored the constitutional protection, particularly in Article 162, which staunchly defends media independence and vigorously opposes any form of interference or harassment based on editorial perspectives, opinions, or content.
He also commended the swift response of the Ghana Police Service to the incident, emphasizing the paramount importance of safeguarding and upholding media independence and ensuring accountability for those responsible for the attack.

Alan Kyerematen went on to call for the immediate and equitable prosecution of the perpetrators, sending a clear message that such actions have no place in Ghana’s democratic society.
He concluded his statement with a resounding affirmation: “Ghana will rise again.”
