Famous American filmmaker Spike Lee is currently in Ghana, according to sources close to the director. Lee, known for his groundbreaking films such as “Do the Right Thing” and “Malcolm X,” is said to be in the West African nation for a project related to the African diaspora.

Details about Lee’s project in Ghana are yet to be determined now. Still, it is believed to be connected to his upcoming Netflix series “Da 5 Bloods,” which tells the story of a group of Black veterans returning to Vietnam for their fallen squad leader and a buried treasure.

Ghana, known as the “gateway to the African diaspora,” has become a popular destination for Black people from around the world interested in tracing their roots and connecting with the continent. Ghana has a rich cultural heritage and has many historic sites related to the transatlantic slave trade.

Lee, who has never shied away from exploring issues related to race and identity in his films, has been a vocal advocate for Black liberation and cultural empowerment throughout his career. Many see his decision to travel to Ghana as a reflection of his commitment to celebrating Black history and culture and his desire to connect with the African continent.
