Covenant School Shooting in Nashville Tennessee

Local authorities report that a school shooting in Nashville, Tennessee, on Monday killed six people, including three children. The attack occurred at a private Christian school that teaches children up to approximately 12 years old. The 28-year-old shooter was a woman and a former student of the school. She was engaged and killed by Nashville police, who found her carrying two “assault-type” rifles and a pistol. She killed three staff members and three children.

Covenant School in Nashville according to reports implemented an “active shooter” program in 2022. Nashville Police is yet to know how the shooter entered the building.

During the incident, cut glass injured one police officer while responding to the scene. Two officers entered the building and encountered the shooter on the second floor of the premises, where she was shot.

Parents gather at a nearby church to reunite with their children. In a statement, Nashville Mayor John Cooper expressed sympathy for the victims’ families and called for gun control legislation to prevent further incidents of gun violence.

President Joe Biden echoed these sentiments, calling the shooting a “family’s worst nightmare” and urging Congress to take action to stop gun violence.
