In spite of reports that Christian Atsu was found following an earthquake in Turkey, Hatayspor’s honorary president says he has yet to be located.

In the aftermath of the earthquake in Turkey and Syria, Hatayspor’s honorary president said Christian Atsu remains trapped under rubble. Even though earlier reports claimed he had been found, he remains missing.

Throughout the football world, tributes have poured in for Atsu. Chelsea, Everton, Newcastle, Spain, Portugal, the Netherlands, and other countries have all been a part of his long career.

The soccer player, who plays for Hatayspor in Turkey, was reported missing earlier on February 6 after the earthquake that hit the south of Turkey and north of Syria. This earthquake killed more than 2,500 people.

Hatayspor vice president Mustafa Ozat was quoted by Turkish journalist Yagiz Sabuncuoglu as saying the club was trying to reach Atsu and Taner Savut under the rubble despite earlier report.

Search and rescue efforts for Atsu continue, according to Hatay Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Lutfu Savas, honorary president of Hatayspor.

Let’s remember Atsu and his team in our prayers as the search for survivors continues under rubble and freezing conditions.
