In a show of unity and harmony, Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and former President John Dramani Mahama have jointly praised the peaceful enskinment of the new Yagbonwura, the paramount chief of the Gonja Kingdom in Ghana.

The two political leaders attended the colorful ceremony in Damongo, the capital of northern Ghana’s newly created Savannah Region, to honor the new Yagbonwura, Abdulai Yakubu Andani.

In his remarks, Vice President Bawumia highlighted the importance of unity and peaceful coexistence among Ghanaians. He also called on all parties involved to ensure development and progress in the country.

“Today, we are here to witness the peaceful enskinment of the new Yagbonwura, and this is a testament to our collective commitment to peace and unity,” Bawumia said. “We must continue to work together to build a better Ghana for all.”

Former President Mahama echoed Bawumia’s sentiments and praised the people of Gonjaland for their hospitality and warm reception during the ceremony.

“I am delighted to be here to witness this historical event, and I want to commend the people of Gonjaland for their commitment to peace and unity,” Mahama said. “We are one people, and we must continue to work together to build a prosperous and peaceful Ghana.”

The new Yagbonwura, the 39th occupant of the Gonja throne, thanked the government, traditional leaders, and the people of Ghana for their support and participation in the ceremony. They pledged to work tirelessly to promote unity and development in his kingdom.

The enskinment of the new Yagbonwura marks a significant milestone in the history of the Gonja Kingdom, and the joint presence of Vice President Bawumia and former President Mahama at the ceremony underscores the importance of peaceful coexistence and unity in Ghana.
