Black Sherif, the Ghanaian musician Mohammed Ismail Sherif, has shared details about his celebrations following his recent win at the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA). Black Sherif was honoured with the Artiste of the Year award at the VGMA ceremony held on May 6, 2023, which was met with widespread acclaim because of his rising fame and talent.
During an interview with Berla Mundi and Cookie Tee, Black Sherif disclosed he celebrated his VGMA victory with a small gathering of people who are close to him at his home in Spintex, a suburb of Accra. He also mentioned that the celebration took place nationwide, with energy and excitement felt all around, especially among the ghetto youth.
Black Sherif further explained that he intends to take his award to his hometown of Konongo and celebrate with the locals to show them his achievement and appreciation. He has been making waves in the Ghanaian music industry with his unique style that blends hip-hop and Ghanaian highlife music, gaining attention with his hit single ‘First Sermon’ and releasing successful albums like ‘Second Sermon’ and ‘The Villain I Never Was.’
