The Inspector-General of Police, Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, has made an appeal to event organizers in the country, urging them to consider scheduling events throughout the year as a means to boost the national economy. He assured event organizers that the police are fully prepared to provide security for these events.

Dr. Dampare emphasized that the police are eager and committed to collaborating with event organizers nationwide to ensure that all security aspects related to these events are comprehensively addressed. He suggested that events in Ghana should extend beyond the typical December season, as the police are always ready to safeguard both the organizers and the attendees. Recognizing the significant economic contribution of tourism, he encouraged the holding of major events throughout the year, expressing the police’s dedication to ensuring their security.

During a meeting at the Police headquarters, the IGP conveyed this message to event organizers and the staff of the Ghana Tourism Authority, stating, “We believe that events in Ghana should go beyond December because we are always ready to protect you and the patrons of your event. Tourism is a huge boost for the economy, and we should try and hold major events across the country throughout the year because the police will protect you and your events.”

Dr. Akuffo Dampare also pledged to collaborate with the Ghana Tourism Authority in establishing a closer working relationship between the police and event organizers to promote and enhance the reputation of Ghana.

In response, the Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Tourism Authority, Kwasi Agyeman, expressed gratitude for the support provided by the Police. He considered the opportunity to interact with the management of the police and share experiences as unprecedented and overwhelming, acknowledging the significance of this engagement.
