Three students from the Beginners Education Complex in the Amansie Central of the Ashanti region tragically lost their lives when a 207 bus caught fire. Multiple individuals sustained injuries during the incident. The unfortunate event occurred on Tuesday, June 13, around 5 PM in Huu.

Following a breakdown of their original bus, six schoolchildren were transferred to a 207-passenger bus in Huu to continue their journey to Edwenase. Unexpectedly, the bus suddenly ignited in flames. While some passengers escaped, three were trapped inside the bus and succumbed to burn injuries.

The victims have been identified as Justina Obeng (5 years old), Maame Mary (6 years old), and Isabella Danso (2 years old).

Daniel Agyenim Boateng, the Assembly Member for the Huu Electoral area, provided details about the incident: “Around 5 pm, a passenger car was traveling from Obuasi to Huu. As there is a school in the area, some children from the school’s bus experienced a malfunction. The students were transferred to the passenger car to continue their journey.

Unfortunately, the car caught fire, claiming the lives of three students and injuring others currently receiving treatment at St. Peters Hospital.”

Mr. Agyenim Boateng also mentioned that a woman who bravely attempted to rescue the children suffered severe burns and is currently in critical condition.

The bodies of the deceased students have been placed in the morgue at St. Peter Hospital in Jacobu for preservation. The police have apprehended the vehicle’s owner and driver to help with investigations.
