Asanko Gold Ghana Limited has signed a $400 million contract with Rabotec Ghana Limited in a major move to strengthen local participation and expand job creation within Ghana’s mining sector.

The agreement, finalized on March 30, 2026, spans four years and is aimed at enhancing operational collaboration while ensuring that more value from mining activities is retained within the local economy. The partnership aligns with Ghana’s broader local content agenda, which seeks to empower indigenous companies and deepen their role across the mining value chain.

Under the terms of the deal, Rabotec Ghana Limited will play a key role in delivering mining services, leveraging its experience as a locally owned firm established in 2002. The contract is expected to have a significant economic and social impact, particularly in the area of employment and skills development.

Projections indicate that the partnership will generate approximately 3,000 direct jobs and an additional 5,000 indirect jobs. Rabotec already employs around 950 staff, all of whom are Ghanaians, with a substantial portion drawn from host communities. The company has also demonstrated a strong commitment to supporting local businesses, having invested more than $8 million in local suppliers over the past two years.

Beyond job creation, the agreement places strong emphasis on long-term skills development, ensuring that Ghanaian workers are equipped to meet the standards and demands of the global mining industry. This focus is expected to enhance technical capacity and create sustainable career pathways within the sector.

The deal represents a significant expansion of an existing relationship between the two companies. Rabotec has collaborated with Asanko for more than a decade, initially providing smaller-scale services before securing a major contract in October 2023.

The agreement also reflects broader national priorities highlighted during the Mining Sector Local Content Summit 2026, where John Dramani Mahama emphasized the importance of increasing indigenous participation in the mining industry as a driver of economic growth and development.
