Chris Hughton has unveiled a 55-man provisional squad for the upcoming 2023 Total Energies Africa Cup of Nations in Cote d’Ivoire.
Medeama SC, the Premier League Champions, contribute five players to the roster: Hamidu Abdul Fatawu, Felix Kyei, Abdulai Nurudeen, Jonathan Sowah, and Derrick Fordjour.
Additional home-based players in the provisional list include Emmanuel Antwi and Benjamin Asare from Accra Great Olympics, John Antwi and Godfred Atuahene from Dreams FC, Razak Simpson from Nations FC, and Richmond Lamptey from Asante Kotoko.
The squad features prominent names such as Mohammed Kudus, Joseph Wollacott, Andre Ayew, Jordan Ayew, Alexander Djiku, Antoine Semenyo, Inaki Williams, Thomas Partey, Abdul Samed Salis, and Majeed Ashimeru.
Mohammed Salisu, an AS Monaco player who has been absent from the Ghanaian team since the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 due to injury, is also included in the provisional list.
The Black Stars find themselves in Group B alongside Egypt, Mozambique, and Cape Verde.
The Africa Cup of Nations Cote D’Ivoire 2023 is scheduled to take place from Saturday, January 13, to Sunday, February 11, 2024.
