Civil society should develop ‘roadmap’ for Ghana

Organised Labour has complained about the continuous power shift between the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the National Democratic Congress (NDC), which is hindering the country’s development.

Dr. Anthony Yaw Baah, the spokesperson and Secretary-General of the Ghana Trades Union Congress (TUC), has called on civil society to develop a roadmap for Ghana to ensure sustained development instead of relying solely on political party manifestos. Dr. Yaw Baah made these remarks during ongoing discussions on pensions in Accra on April 20. He emphasized that the meeting was about the present and the future, considering issues such as retirement, pensions, and gender disparities among retirees.

The Finance Ministry’s proposal on an alternative debt restructuring programme, believed to be another domestic debt exchange programme (DDEP), has prompted Organised Labour to firm up its decision on the matter.
