President John Dramani Mahama has honored his commitment to initiating a Constitutional Review Process by establishing a Constitution Review Committee.

The eight-member committee, led by Prof. Henry Kwasi Prempeh, comprises distinguished individuals renowned for their expertise and dedication to public service.

The committee’s mandate is to identify gaps and challenges in previous constitutional review efforts, engage stakeholders, and propose recommendations to strengthen democratic governance.

President Mahama emphasized that the committee’s composition reflects his dedication to good governance and his intention to involve experts capable of effectively steering the process.

Felix Kwakye Ofosu, Acting Spokesperson to the President, stated, “The committee’s composition highlights the President’s commitment to engaging individuals with proven expertise, dedication to national service, and a strong commitment to good governance.”

The committee is expected to submit its recommendations for constitutional amendments within five months.

The review process seeks to address gaps and challenges in the implementation of the 1992 Constitution, building on the efforts of the 2010 Constitution Review Commission and the 2023 Constitution Review Consultative Committee.

The committee members include Justice Sophia Adinyirah, Prof. Kwame Karikari, Mrs. Charlotte Osei, Dr. Godwin Djokoto, Ibrahim Tanko Amidu, Dr. Esi Ansah, and Dr. Rainer Akumperigeya, who will serve as Secretary.
