President John Dramani Mahama has reaffirmed that Ghana’s ongoing constitutional review is a national initiative aimed at strengthening governance and democracy—not a partisan exercise.

Speaking at the swearing-in ceremony of the eight-member Constitutional Review Committee at Jubilee House, Mahama emphasized the importance of unity and broad public participation in shaping a revised constitution that truly reflects the aspirations of all Ghanaians.

“This exercise is not about any political party. It is about Ghana,” he stated.

“It is about ensuring that our Constitution reflects the values, hopes, and dreams of every Ghanaian, regardless of their background or affiliation.”

His remarks address concerns that constitutional amendments could be politically motivated. However, Mahama assured the public that committee members were selected based on their integrity, expertise, and commitment to national progress—free from political bias.

He urged the committee to engage widely with citizens from all walks of life to ensure the revised Constitution fosters inclusivity, national unity, and trust.

“This Constitution must belong to all of us. It must inspire trust, unite us, and provide a framework for a more just, inclusive, and prosperous Ghana,” he added.

As the committee begins its work, President Mahama called on all Ghanaians to actively participate, emphasizing that the Constitution is the backbone of the country’s democracy and must evolve in ways that benefit every citizen.
