Former Auditor-General Daniel Yao Domelevo has expressed doubt regarding President Akufo-Addo’s sincerity in his self-assessment of his government’s efforts to combat corruption. Domelevo indicated that he would be surprised if the President were to honestly admit failure in the fight against corruption.

Domelevo shared his candid opinion on the matter during an interview with Joy News’ Upfront show on Wednesday. He questioned the accuracy of the President’s assessment.
President Akufo-Addo’s Anti-Corruption Efforts During an address to lawyers at the Ghana Bar Association Conference in Cape Coast the previous month, President Akufo-Addo claimed that his government had waged an exceptionally strong battle against corruption since Ghana gained independence. He asserted that his administration had taken unprecedented steps to combat corruption, which no previous government had undertaken.

The President emphasized that he had not shielded any of his appointees facing allegations of misconduct. He stated his willingness to discuss his government’s track record on corruption for public scrutiny.
President Akufo-Addo clarified that it was not his responsibility to convict or exonerate individuals accused of corruption. He emphasized that the role of determining guilt or innocence rested with the courts and law enforcement agencies. He assured the public of his commitment to continue the fight against corruption and make it an unattractive endeavor for anyone.
