Dremo jabs Sarkodie

Nigerian artist Dremo has fired back at Ghanaian rapper Sarkodie over his bold claims of being Africa’s top rapper.

Sarkodie’s latest single, “Brag,” has caused a stir with its audacious declaration of his supremacy in the African music industry. In the song, Sarkodie name-drops prominent Nigerian artists like Wizkid, Davido, Burna Boy, and Asake, asserting that he has no competition on the continent and that his only rivals are American rap icons Kendrick Lamar and Drake.

The tension escalated when a fan tagged Dremo on Instagram, challenging him to respond to Sarkodie’s claims. Dremo quickly replied with a confident “Hold my beer,” signaling his readiness to engage.

Wasting no time, Dremo released a diss track targeting Sarkodie, disputing his assertions and emphasizing that true success is measured by current achievements, not just longevity. Dremo highlighted the accomplishments of the Nigerian artists mentioned by Sarkodie and issued a stern warning to the Ghanaian rapper, who had crowned himself the GOAT (Greatest of All Time).

Sarkodie responded with a cheeky social media post, acknowledging Dremo’s potential but subtly downplaying the challenge, suggesting that Dremo just needs a few tweaks to reach his peak.

The rap battle has sparked a debate among fans, with some urging Sarkodie to respond with another track, while others believe it’s unnecessary.

Meanwhile, the rivalry has drawn in other artists, including Ghana’s CJ Biggerman and Lyrical Joe, and Nigeria’s Chinkotiger, who have jumped into the fray to passionately defend their respective rap scenes.
