EC replaces printing house

The Electoral Commission of Ghana has announced the replacement of Yasarko Press, originally contracted to print ballot papers for the Oti and Western North Regions in the upcoming 2024 Presidential and Parliamentary Elections.

Yasarko Press, a long-standing partner since 1998, was forced to withdraw from the contract due to a critical equipment malfunction. The Commission and Yasarko Press mutually agreed to this change to avoid any disruptions in the printing schedule.

Deputy Chairman of Operations, Samuel Tettey, clarified that the decision was purely due to the equipment issue, not due to concerns about Yasarko’s capacity, countering speculation from the National Democratic Congress’ Director of Elections and Information Technology. “The speculation…is NOT TRUE,” Tettey emphasized.

To keep the printing process on track, the Electoral Commission has reassigned the printing of ballot papers for the Oti and Western North Regions to Buck Press and Acts Commercials, respectively, both of which have proven expertise.

All political parties and independent candidates in the 2024 General Election have been informed of this adjustment. The Electoral Commission reaffirms its commitment to ensuring transparency, fairness, and integrity throughout the electoral process.
