The residents of Ekumfi Ekumpoano in the Ekumfi District of the Central Region are facing critical issues with basic social amenities, specifically water and electricity. They have appealed to the government, particularly through the Minister of Energy, to address these challenges by providing a new transformer to enhance stable electricity supply in the area.

According to some residents, the community is grappling with frequent disruptions in their water supply, low power voltage, and extended periods of total darkness. The absence of a reliable power supply has significantly impacted daily life activities, particularly affecting businesses in the area.

The residents highlighted that the community relies on a standing pipe for potable drinking water, as the other five means of fetching water have been compromised over the years. They emphasized the urgent need for a new transformer to ensure access to electricity, citing incidents of transformer fires, power cuts, and deficits that have adversely affected the community.

The residents alleged that the Electricity Company of Ghana has been unresponsive to their requests to repair or replace the faulty transformer. They specifically mentioned a three-phase 50KVA transformer posing a danger to the community, which caught fire due to the extensive use of electronic gadgets in the area.

In interviews with some residents, concerns were raised about the imminent festivities in the area. They expressed worry about the availability of potable water and stable power supply during this period, noting that the current situation has resulted in the destruction of foodstuffs and electrical appliances. The plea from the residents emphasizes the urgency of government intervention to address these pressing issues and improve the living conditions in Ekumfi Ekumpoano.
