A fire has severely damaged parts of the Job 600 building in Accra, which houses the offices of Members of Parliament.

While the exact cause of the fire remains unknown, it has been confirmed that a warehouse within the building was affected.

Investigations are ongoing to determine the cause and extent of the damage. As the Ghana National Fire Service worked to extinguish the flames, thick smoke was seen billowing from several offices.

Employees and staff inside the building were promptly evacuated to designated safety areas while emergency services managed the situation and began their investigation.

Job 600, an extension to the Parliament Chamber, was commissioned by President Akufo-Addo in November 2020. The building is part of broader efforts to address the longstanding infrastructure challenges faced by Parliament, constructed under the Parliament House Physical Infrastructure Enhancement Project.
