Franklin Cudjoe, the founder and president of IMANI Africa, has raised concerns about the government’s commitment to shifting from taxation to production. In a Facebook post, Cudjoe pointed out that the previous NDC government, led by John Mahama, had imposed numerous nuisance taxes, which contributed to their defeat in the elections.

“Ghanaians were frustrated and voted them out,” he stated.

Despite this, Cudjoe expressed disappointment that the current NPP government has not fully honored its promise to reduce taxation.

“Have we truly transitioned from taxation to production? Are you paying fewer taxes now compared to the last NDC government?” he asked.

He also urged individuals to identify any taxes they currently find burdensome and questioned which political party has the most innovative ideas regarding taxation and its effects on private sector growth.

Cudjoe concluded by stressing the importance of a comprehensive review of the government’s economic management and taxation policies.
