The Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC) has refuted claims made by Sam Nartey George, the Member of Parliament for Ningo Prampram, regarding unpaid technical staff who worked on the African Games. In a statement signed by Director-General Prof. Amin Alhassan, GBC clarified that there are no outstanding payments owed to local technicians engaged by the corporation for the African Games. “All payments to local service providers have been completed,” the statement asserted.

Prof. Alhassan highlighted that GBC staff deployed to the games received a daily subsistence allowance of GH¢100 each, with no pending payments. He emphasized, “Only staff who were on location at the games were paid, and there are no outstanding payments to be made.”

The statement also explained that GBC had outsourced technical production to companies such as PGS, Quality Media Production S.L., and The Production Room (TPR) due to a lack of necessary equipment.

Additionally, the GBC Director-General dismissed claims by Sports Minister Mustapha Ussif that the corporation had received over three million US dollars for its role in the games. Prof. Alhassan clarified that GBC received $105,000 as the Official Broadcaster, not the $3 million as alleged.
