On Sunday, May, the Prime Minister of Canada, His Excellency Justin Trudeau, engaged in bilateral discussions with President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo in London. The talks revolved around bolstering the cooperation and friendship between Canada and Ghana, which have maintained a strong relationship over time.

The meeting also highlighted the trade ties between both countries. In 2021, the two-way merchandise trade between Canada and Ghana amounted to over $475 million. Canadian exports accounted for over $372.8 million, while imports from Ghana reached $102.6 million. Canadian exports mainly comprised cereals, vehicles and parts, machinery, textiles, and beverages, while Ghana’s primary exports included cocoa, rubber, mineral ores, and wood.

Ghana has been designated as one of the key markets in Africa by Export Development Canada, and other organizations with a presence in the country that may be of interest include the Canadian Commercial Corporation and the Canada Ghana Chamber of Commerce.
