Anticipation is mounting as the ninth edition of the Ghana Ladies Amateur Open 2023 draws closer. The highly esteemed golf tournament is scheduled to begin on Friday, July 14, 2023, at the renowned Celebrity Golf Club in Sakumono.

Over three days, from Friday to Sunday, a gathering of 120 exceptionally skilled female golfers from all corners of Africa will converge to exhibit their abilities and vie for the coveted championship title. The tournament encompasses various categories tailored to accommodate players of diverse handicaps and age groups.

The highlight of the event is the 54-hole scratch tournament, where contenders with a playing handicap of up to 15 will fiercely compete for glory. This primary tournament serves as a World Amateur Golf Ranking Qualifier, providing an opportunity for participants to elevate their global standing in the sport.

For golfers with a playing handicap of 16 and above, the Handicap category presents a 36-hole stroke play event, allowing them to showcase their skills and engage in friendly competition among peers of similar abilities. Ensuring an inclusive experience, the tournament also incorporates an 18-hole Stableford event called Support (Men), inviting male participants from all backgrounds to partake in the golfing extravaganza and relish the thrill of the competition.

Acknowledging the proficiency and experience of senior female golfers, the Seniors (Ladies) category has been thoughtfully designed specifically for players aged 60 years and above. In this 18-hole Stableford event, these seasoned golfers will display their mastery of the game and inspire others with their enduring passion for golf.

To uphold fairness and adherence to regulations, the tournament will be conducted under the rules of the R&A, USGA, and the local rules of the Celebrity Golf Club as stated on the scorecard. Competitors will tee off from the Red tees, introducing an additional layer of challenge to the already formidable course.

In order to take part in the main tournament, players must be female amateurs with a maximum playing handicap of 15. It is mandatory for all participants to possess an official handicap issued by a recognized Federation or Association. Proof of handicap will be required during the registration process to maintain the integrity of the tournament.

As the tournament progresses, the draw for each round will be determined based on the players’ scores. For the second round, the draw will be organized according to the gross score order from the previous round. Similarly, for the third and final round, the draw will be based on the players’ cumulative scores from the first two rounds. The committee keeps the right to make adjustments to the draw if deemed necessary, ensuring fairness and competitiveness throughout the tournament.

Beyond the prestige and acknowledgment that accompany victory in the Ghana Ladies Amateur Open, participants will be vying for the esteemed prizes given upon the top performers. The tournament will crown a Champion, Runner Up, and Third-Place finisher, further intensifying the motivation and anticipation surrounding the competition.

The success of the Ghana Ladies Amateur Open owes a great deal to the generous support of its sponsors. Companies such as Goil, Millennium Insurance, Bank of Africa Ghana, Pamicor Ltd, Tacos Group, Ecoband Ltd, Royal Senchi Hotel, Legend Sports Management, Exp Ghana, Tema Craft Beer, and Friends of Ladies Golf have united to ensure the seamless execution of the tournament and contribute to the advancement of women’s golf in Ghana.
