In order to evade being charged for overweight luggage, a Ghanaian traveler en route from Heathrow Airport in the United Kingdom to Accra, Ghana, wore seven layers of clothing. The metal detector detected the many layers, and upon questioning, the traveler cited the cold weather as the reason for wearing them.
However, security personnel suspected the layers were intended to avoid paying the overweight fee. A metal button on one of the layers triggered the detector, but the security team could not locate it immediately.
