Ghanaian High Commission in South Africa actively working to secure release

The Ghanaian High Commission in South Africa has given assurances that it is actively working to secure the release of a kidnapped Deacon from the Ghanaian Church of Pentecost in Johannesburg, South Africa.

This response follows an incident in which members of the congregation at the Johannesburg branch of the Ghanaian Church of Pentecost were robbed at gunpoint, and a Deacon of the church was abducted during a church service on Sunday, October 29, 2023.

In an official statement issued on Monday, October 30, the High Commission stated, “The Mission is presently working with the Church in cooperation with the South Africa Police Service (SAPS) to ensure the speedy and safe release and return of the victim to his family.”

The High Commission emphasized that the South African Police are fully committed to the case and are diligently working to ensure the safe return of the kidnapped individual.

In light of this development, the High Commission has advised the Ghanaian community in South Africa to take necessary precautions to ensure their safety and well-being.

The statement concludes by assuring that the Mission will provide further updates to the community regarding the case’s developments.
