Ghana’s Black Meteors suffered a crushing 5-1 defeat at the hands of Morocco in the ongoing Africa U-23 Cup of Nations.

Morocco swiftly made their intentions clear when Michael Richardson found the back of the net just seven minutes into the match. Ismael Saibiri then doubled their lead six minutes later.

Demonstrating impressive teamwork, the Atlas Lions further extended their advantage with Yanis Begraoui scoring their third goal after the 30th-minute mark.

Ghana managed to pull one back as Salim Adams scored two minutes before halftime, giving them a glimmer of hope.

Shortly thereafter, the Black Meteors had a goal disallowed following a VAR review of Fatawu Issahaku’s low drive.

In the second half, Abdessamad Ezzalzouli, the Barcelona star, capitalized on a poor clearance by Terry Yegbe to notch Morocco’s fourth goal. Begraoui then secured his second goal of the game, effectively sealing Ghana’s fate.

Morocco had a late goal ruled out for offside.
Next up, the Black Meteors will face Guinea in a decisive match for a spot in the competition’s semifinals.
