The Ghana Journalist Association (GJA) has officially lifted the media blacklist imposed on Member of Parliament for Yendi Constituency, Farouk Aliu Mahama, after over three months.
This decision has garnered support from key stakeholders such as the Ghana Independent Broadcasters Association (GIBA), the Private Newspaper Publishers Association of Ghana (PRINPAG), and the Media Foundation for West Africa (MFWA).
During a press briefing on May 9, 2024, the GJA emphasized that this resolution was made following the MP’s sincere apology and his commitment to “restore cordial relations with the media in the Northern Region and the country as a whole.”
Citi News management has expressed satisfaction with the GJA’s decision.
“After evaluating the conciliatory efforts of the Member of Parliament, the plea by the Minister of Information designate and her deputy designate, and the positive feedback from CITI/FM management, the Ghana Journalist Association and its partners have decided to lift the media boycott imposed on Honorable Farouk Aliu Mahama, Member of Parliament for Yendi. We, therefore, respectfully urge all media organizations to take note and adhere to this decision, effective from today, May 9, 2024,” stated the President of the Ghana Journalist Association.
