Mohammed Muntaka Mubarak, the former Minority Chief Whip, believes his removal from the leadership of the NDC was part of a larger scheme to force him out of Parliament. In January, Muntaka was replaced as Minority Chief Whip by Governs Kwame Agbodza, while Haruna Iddrisu and Dr. James Klutse Avedzi were replaced by Dr. Cassiel Ato Baah Forson and Emmanuel Armah-Buah respectively, as the opposition party changed its parliamentary leadership.
Muntaka, who has been a member of Parliament since 2005, perceives the changes as a deliberate targeting of him orchestrated by newly elected national executives. He believes they aimed to remove him from Parliament. Recently, Muntaka faced tough competition from Masawudu Mubarick in the parliamentary race for the Asawase constituency. Despite the challenge, Muntaka emerged victorious, securing 1,063 votes, while his leading contender, Masawudu Mubarick, received 735 votes.
