The West African Gas Pipeline Company (WAPCO) has successfully restored gas supply to the thermal power plants in Tema, bringing relief to affected customers. The announcement was made by the Ghana Grid Company Ltd. (GRIDCo) and the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG).
This restoration has enabled all previously shut-down power plants to resume operations, ensuring the return of stable electricity supply across the nation.
The disruption, caused by a temporary halt in gas supply, had affected Tema’s thermal power plants, leading to widespread power outages that inconvenienced businesses and households.
With the resumption of gas supply, GRIDCo and ECG have confirmed that all affected plants are now operational, providing much-needed stability to the national power grid.
In a joint press release issued on Friday, December 13, 2024, GRIDCo and ECG expressed gratitude to customers and stakeholders for their patience during the supply challenges.
“We thank our stakeholders and customers for their patience and understanding,” the statement read, reaffirming their commitment to delivering reliable electricity to Ghanaians.
