A delegation from the India Export-Import Bank (India EXIM), led by Deputy Managing Director Tarun Sharma, paid a courtesy visit to the Ghana Export-Import Bank (GEXIM) at GEXIM’s headquarters in Accra, at the Africa Trade House.

Rosemary Beryl Archer, GEXIM’s Deputy Chief Executive Officer responsible for Banking, received the India EXIM team on behalf of CEO Lawrence Agyinsam. This visit followed a meeting between the two banks during the 18th CII – EXIM Bank Conclave on India Africa Growth Partnership in New Delhi, India.

Ms. Archer emphasized the significant role played by India EXIM, along with US EXIM, USAID, and Afreximbank, as strategic partners in the establishment and development of GEXIM since 2016. GEXIM’s management adopted the operational model of India EXIM during that time.

“We are pleased to host the India EXIM team today, following the successful meeting between our team, led by Nana Akyaa Obeng-Adiyiah, Deputy CEO responsible for Finance and Administration, in New Delhi, India, a week ago. We are grateful for the collaboration, particularly the Institutional Capacity Building program in 2017, which equipped GEXIM to support the growth of the Small and Medium Enterprise (SME) sector and Non-Traditional Exports (NTE) in Ghana. We look forward to further prospects in our amicable relationship mutually to benefit both banks,” she added.

Tarun Sharma expressed his gratitude to GEXIM’s management for the warm reception and emphasized the need to strengthen collaboration between the two banks.

“It is a pleasure to be here today, and I am confident in a stronger partnership between Indian EXIM and GEXIM to assist businesses in Ghana and India in seizing opportunities in both countries and the global market. We are open to collaborating with the Government of Ghana through GEXIM on the One District One Factory initiative,” he added.

On their visit to Accra, the India EXIM team visited the GEXIM Made-In-Ghana shop (MiG Town), on the ground floor of the Africa Trade House. MiG Town offers a range of diverse and well-packaged Made-In-Ghana products, including food, beverages, skincare and beauty products, textiles, apparel, footwear, and more.

Accompanied by GEXIM officials, the team also visited two companies financed by GEXIM under the One District One Factory program, namely Kad Manufacturing on and Entrance Pharmaceuticals and Research, both in Accra.
