Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, a contender for the flagbearer position of the New Patriotic Party, has criticized those who doubt his ability to lead the party into the 2024 general elections. He argues that being an excellent presidential candidate requires more than speaking fluent English. Agyapong, a vocal member of parliament for Assin Central, believes his contributions to the party qualify him for the leadership role.
Speaking to party delegates in Koforidua, he urged them to make wise choices during the primaries, emphasizing the importance of selecting a candidate to provide jobs for young people. Agyapong also highlighted his past support for the party, including buying pickup trucks for campaign activities and defending NPP members on his radio station.
He is expected to face tough competition from other party bigwigs such as Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, former Trade Minister Alan Kyeremanten, and Dr. Akoto Osei.
