According to a defense official, Jack Teixeira, the suspected individual responsible for leaking classified information in the US, was assigned to the 102nd Intelligence Wing, responsible for gathering and preparing intelligence from various sources for senior military leaders worldwide. Teixeira had been on federal orders since October 1, 2021; prior to that, he was in drilling status as a member of the Massachusetts Air National Guard. To fulfill this role, he was required to have top secret/sensitive compartmented information clearance. Individuals with such clearance are bound by nondisclosure agreements and are required to self-report any issues that may impact their ability to handle classified information.
