Janet Asana Nabla, leader and flagbearer of the People’s National Party (PNP), has called for a digital transformation of the electoral process to address challenges posed by manual filing systems. While submitting her nomination for the 2024 presidential elections at the Electoral Commission, she expressed appreciation for the waiver of filing fees for female candidates, saying, “The women of Ghana will appreciate it.”
Nabla also stressed the burdensome nature of the current system, which requires candidates to navigate all 262 districts to complete their filing, urging the commission to consider digitalization. “Errors will be minimized, and the process will become much easier for candidates,” she explained.
In addition to advocating for a more efficient electoral process, Janet Nabla made a passionate case for a change in leadership, encouraging Ghanaians to elect a woman as president. “We have tried men throughout our country’s history… It’s time to give a woman the chance,” she remarked, referencing the biblical story of Adam and Eve to illustrate the importance of women in leadership roles.
Nabla outlined her party’s key initiatives, including implementing price controls, banning the use of foreign currency in Ghana, supporting single mothers, and advocating for the vulnerable. “Ghanaians, please consider me, Janet Asana Nabla, as the next president. We are introducing many initiatives to uplift and restore Ghana,” she said in her closing remarks.
