
President John Mahama has sworn in Matilda Asante-Asiedu as the Second Deputy Governor of the Bank of Ghana.
During the ceremony on Friday, May 2, President Mahama commended the Central Bank for its bold initiatives aimed at restoring credibility and public trust.
Highlighting the positive outcomes of these efforts, he noted that the economy is showing signs of recovery.
The cedi has stabilized relatively, appreciating by 3.1% on the interbank market and about 5% at forex bureaus.
This development is expected to help control inflation.
President Mahama urged the newly sworn-in Deputy Governor to support the Bank’s management in achieving its set targets.
The ceremony was attended by key government and financial sector officials, including Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, Bank of Ghana Governor Dr. Johnson Pandit Asiama, Executive Secretary to the President Dr. Callistus Mahama, and Chief of Staff Julius Debrah.
