Kobina Tahir Hammond, a Member of Parliament representing Adansi Asokwa, has been acquitted of contempt charges by an Accra High Court. The case was brought against him by lawyers representing James Gyakye Quayson, the Member of Parliament for Assin North.

The legal action was initiated because K.T. Hammond was accused of making statements in a media interview that could potentially jeopardize Quayson’s ongoing criminal case. Quayson is facing charges related to possessing dual citizenship.

On Thursday, October 19, 2023, the court dismissed the case, citing insufficient evidence to support a conviction. The judge also ruled that Hammond’s statements were not made with the intention of undermining Quayson’s criminal prosecution.
