Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, a hopeful candidate for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer position, is confident in his chances of winning the party’s flagbearer election. His team expressed this confidence after collecting his nomination forms from the NPP headquarters in Accra on Thursday.
As the Assin Central Member of Parliament (MP) and the ninth person to pick up the forms since nominations opened, Kennedy Agyapong aims to appeal to the party’s grassroots. Kwame Owusu, the campaign manager for Agyapong, emphasized the candidate’s disciplined character as a major attraction for party members.
“We have faith in the grassroots. People are enthusiastic about what honorable Ken represents. He stands against indiscipline and conducts his affairs with honesty and patriotism. He has proven his dedication to Ghana, even to the point of sacrificing his life,” stated Owusu in an interview with Citi News.
According to Owusu, Agyapong’s refusal to conform to the norm is often misinterpreted as a lack of discipline, but it shows his commitment to ordinary people. Owusu believes Agyapong’s disciplined approach sets him apart from other contenders, as it resonates with the electorate, who are weary of the general should fully know in the country.
“In a nation plagued by indiscipline, people desire a leader who upholds discipline. Indiscipline breeds corruption. When you have a leader whom you perceive as honest and for whom you will work, you should be fully aware that any misconduct will be met with severe consequences,” explained Mr. Owusu.
