Samuel Atta Akyea, the Member of Parliament for Akim Abuakwa South, has appealed to Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta to consider resigning for the betterment of the administration and his personal well-being.
The prolonged economic challenges confronting the nation have fueled continuous calls for Ofori-Atta’s resignation over several months.
The Finance Minister has faced criticism, particularly from the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC).
In an interview with Citi TV, Mr. Atta-Akyea emphasized the importance of self-reflection for Ofori-Atta, advising him to weigh the impact of his position on both himself and the well-being of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP).
“What is very alarming to me is the fact that there is a whole army of people saying, ‘Look, you’ve had enough.’ I think that could be a way for him to relax. Consider all the burdens on one man. So it is his individual decision to make on whether he should go or continue,” Atta-Akyea remarked.
Furthermore, Atta-Akyea suggested that Ofori-Atta’s resignation might contribute to a more tranquil situation for both the government and the nation.
“He should assess himself and the perceived troubles. I mean, when he is not there, then the nation will have peace. He should save himself, save the government, and find his peace because he needs it,” said Mr. Atta Akyea.
