Tiwa Savage, a well-known Nigerian singer, has been invited to perform at the upcoming coronation of King Charles III, the new British monarch who will ascend the throne following the passing of his mother, Queen Elizabeth II, last year. The event is this Saturday, May 6, 2023 at Westminster Abbey. It will include a concert and Big Lunch on Sunday, May 7, 2023.
Tiwa Savage will be among a group of celebrities, including Steve Winwood, DJ Pete Tong, Lang Lang, Lucy, Paloma Faith, and Olly Murs, who will entertain guests at the coronation concert. This marks the first time a Nigerian artist has been invited to perform at a foreign royal coronation ceremony, and Tiwa Savage is the only Nigerian among the select group of African artists chosen for the historic occasion.
