John Dramani Mahama, NDC Presidential nominee, has called on President Akufo-Addo and his team to prepare their handing over notes and be ready to be held accountable for their leadership. In his formal acceptance speech on May 15, 2023, following his victory in the NDC presidential primaries on May 13, Mahama emphasized that his re-election is the first step towards the NDC’s return to power.

During his speech at the University of Development Studies, Mahama assured Ghanaians that if elected in 2024, his government would improve their quality of life. He pledged to create a progressive administration offering equal sustainable livelihood opportunities. Mahama thanked the Electoral Commission and its dedicated staff for ensuring a smooth and successful election.

In particular, he acknowledged the outstanding efforts of Mr. Serebuor Quaicoe and the district election director for their exceptional commitment to the process. In the NDC presidential primaries, Mahama secured approximately 99% of the votes cast by delegates across the country, while his opponent Kojo Bonsu received only 1% of the votes.
