March inflation surges to 25.8%

In March, inflation surged to 25.8 percent, marking a notable increase from February 2024’s rate of 23.2 percent, indicating a 2.6 percentage point rise.

 

Specifically, the food inflation rate experienced a significant uptick, climbing from 27.0 percent in February to 29.6 percent in March. Meanwhile, non-food inflation for March was reported at 22.6 percent.

Government Statistician Professor Samuel Kobina Annim disclosed this information on Wednesday, April 10, highlighting the notable rise in inflation between February and March 2024.

 

“In March 2024, the inflation rate reached 25.8 percent, compared to the previous month’s figure of 23.2 percent, marking a surge of 2.6 percentage points,” he stated. “When considering food and non-food items separately, food inflation stood at 29.6 percent, while non-food inflation was recorded at 22.6 percent. Both food and non-food inflation witnessed a 2.6 percentage point increase between February and March 2024.”

 

Notably, there was a slight decrease in inflation from January to February, with the rate dropping from 23.5 percent to 23.2 percent, representing a 0.3 percentage point decline.
