The Volta Regional Minister, Archibald Letsa, mobilized a delegation from the Regional Coordinating Council (VRCC) to journey to the severely flooded Tongu regions following the discharge from the Akosombo and Kpong Dams.

The primary purpose of this mission was to assess the extent of the damage and provide the essential relief measures to the affected communities. In the company of a government delegation, headed by Seji Saji, Deputy National NADMO Director General, the team also included representatives from the Volta River Authority (VRA), Railway Minister John-Peter Amewu, various security agencies and institutions, as well as Ivy Amewugah, the Regional NADMO Director, and local media.

Before embarking on the visit to the affected areas, a debriefing session was held to evaluate the gravity of the situation at the North Tongu District Assembly. The overarching goal of this visit was to instill confidence and reassurance in the affected communities, underscoring the government’s unwavering commitment to providing assistance in the face of the distressing flood conditions.

During their visit, the team distributed three speed boats to the victims and provided them with essential comfort supplies, including mattresses, blankets, life jackets, and toiletries. This initiative aimed to offer practical support and relief to the communities grappling with the aftermath of the flood.
