The President of the Republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has granted an extension for KPMG to conclude its audit on the transaction between the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) and Strategic Mobilisation Ghana Ltd (SML). The initial deadline of Tuesday, 16th January 2024, has been revised to a new date of Friday, 23rd February 2024.

This decision comes in response to a request from KPMG to the President, seeking an extension beyond the two-week period initially allocated for the audit. KPMG is now required to submit its final report no later than Friday, 23rd February 2024.

Furthermore, President Akufo-Addo has acknowledged a request from GRA seeking permission to allow the monitoring system installed and used by SML to continue, despite the suspension of its GRA-related operations. However, the President has turned down GRA’s request and has directed that the existing status quo, concerning the suspension of the contract’s performance, should be maintained until the audit is concluded and KPMG submits the audit report.
