The Electoral Commission (EC) has announced a nationwide mop-up voter registration campaign, to be held at each of its 261 district offices from August 1 to August 3, 2024.
At a press conference in Accra yesterday, Samuel Tettey, the Deputy Chair of the EC responsible for Operations, stated that the registration exercise will also take place in 26 public universities and 41 jail facilities. The activities will run daily from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.
This mop-up registration follows the limited registration period, which took place from May 7 to May 29, 2024, and is being led by EC authorities.
Tettey also announced that from August 20 to August 27, 2024, the voters’ register will be on display. During this period, registered voters can verify if their names are included in the register.
To register, qualified voters must present either a passport or a Ghana Card. Additionally, Tettey noted that registered voters can guarantee for up to 10 people. However, he added, “Anyone who guaranteed for 10 persons in the last registration exercise does not qualify to guarantee for other applicants during the mop-up exercise.”
