
The Ghana Police Service has arrested a 50-year-old landlord, Kofi Koranteng, for allegedly stabbing his tenant, 37-year-old Opoku Agyemang, to death following a dispute over a GH₵30 utility bill.
According to police reports, the suspect was apprehended in Nsawam after authorities launched a multi-day manhunt to track him down following the fatal incident. His arrest has brought some relief to residents in the community, where the tragic event has sparked shock and widespread concern.
Dispute Reportedly Triggered by GH₵30 Utility Bill
Initial reports indicate that the confrontation began over an unpaid utility bill amounting to GH₵30. Community members familiar with both men disclosed that Kofi Koranteng and Opoku Agyemang had maintained a long-standing relationship as friends and colleagues prior to the incident.
However, the disagreement reportedly escalated into a violent altercation, resulting in the fatal stabbing of Opoku Agyemang.
The deceased is survived by his wife and three children.
Police Launch Manhunt After Incident
Following the incident, the Ghana Police Service immediately initiated a search operation after the suspect reportedly fled the area. Investigators later tracked Koranteng to a hideout in Nsawam, where he was arrested and taken into custody.
Police officers processed the crime scene and conveyed the body of the deceased to a mortuary for preservation and autopsy to establish the official cause of death.

Authorities say Kofi Koranteng remains in police custody while investigators finalize preparations for the formal legal process. The case is expected to proceed through Ghana’s judicial system once investigations are completed.
