Police in Bhind, india have launched an extensive effort to identify and notify potential victims after discovering that one of the women arrested in connection with an alleged extortion racket has reportedly been receiving treatment for HIV since 2023.
Authorities are now working alongside local health officials to review evidence seized during the investigation and determine whether any individuals may have been exposed and require confidential medical follow-up.
Investigation Expands Beyond Criminal Allegations
The extortion ring was uncovered approximately three weeks ago following a targeted operation conducted by Bhind Dehat police.
According to Station House Officer Shivpratap Singh Rajawat, all four individuals named in the First Information Report (FIR) remain in judicial custody while the investigation continues.
The accused include two women, both believed to be around 35 years old, and two male accomplices aged 25 and 40 who are alleged to have assisted with coordinating the operation and carrying out extortion demands.
Alleged Blackmail Scheme
Investigators claim the group employed a carefully planned scheme to target victims.
According to police, men were allegedly lured to private residences under false pretenses, where encounters were secretly recorded using hidden cameras or mobile devices. Authorities allege that the recordings were later used to threaten victims with public exposure or false criminal accusations unless substantial sums of money were paid.
Police continue to examine electronic evidence recovered during the investigation as they work to identify additional individuals who may have been affected.

Following the discovery that one of the accused has reportedly been undergoing HIV treatment for several years, the case has prompted a coordinated response involving both law enforcement and public health authorities.
