Veteran business leader Kiprono Kittony has been named Chairman and Independent Non-Executive Director of the airline. Kittony currently serves as chairman of the Nairobi Securities Exchange and replaces Michael Joseph, who recently retired from the position.
Renowned economist David Ndii has also joined the board as a Non-Executive Director. Ndii currently serves as chairperson of the President’s Council of Economic Advisors and is widely known for his work in economic policy and public finance.
Another new board member is Chris Diaz, who has been appointed Independent Non-Executive Director. Diaz is a globally recognized marketing strategist with extensive experience in aviation and brand development.
Finance and accounting scholar Winnie Iminza Nyamute from the University of Nairobi has also been appointed Independent Non-Executive Director. She currently serves on the board of the Nairobi Securities Exchange and brings strong expertise in corporate governance and finance.
The new board appointments form part of a broader strategic reset for Kenya Airways as the airline works to stabilize its operations and improve financial performance. The government is currently seeking a strategic investor to inject between 154.8 billion and 258 billion Kenyan shillings into the airline to support its long-term recovery and growth.
